When it comes to the word design in the field of architecture and space, the first reaction is what the building looks like, which designer is invited to design it, people attach importance to its appearance, doors, windows, so-called "style", as well as the content of color and symbolization. These habitual values are not very important, they are just a kind of dramatic "shell". The value of design lies in the "emptiness" enclosed by them. This emptiness is the core of design, and the state, emotion, behavior, all feelings and perceptions of people inside and outside this space are the core.
Design and art are both from life and higher than life, but the reality is that design and art are only "higher" than life to a large extent, not from life. In the Internet age, most of the massive "netred" buildings and spaces are extremely short-lived, like fireworks, which burn out quickly under the attention. Art can be a painting or a sculpture. If you put it there, you can't understand it. It doesn't matter. Its own soul is only dedicated to a small group of people. But the design is not good, its soul is not given by the designer wishful thinking, but needs the user and the experiencer's injection to be able to be complete.
We regard the whole site as a walkable space system: the old sugar factory, industrial truss and new volume define or close or open space together. In the interior of the standard guest room building, as the extension of the horizontal walking system in the vertical direction, a 1.25-meter public footpath extends along the top of the external interface syncline of the building. The public walkway system is independent of the horizontal guest functional corridor system. Inspired by the mountain path system and karst cave dug into the karst terrain, the gradually climbing linear public footpath connects three "karst cave" spaces with strong spatial directivity. The three "karst caves" show different landscape relationships with natural mountains and rocks at different heights. Walking in the resort, people can continuously experience the space light and dark, high and low, far and near.
In today's rapid development of China, people are living in a period of fast-paced and dramatic changes. The word "generation gap" didn't exist before. It was a generation when there was a difference of ten or even twenty years. Now it is a generation when there is a difference of three or five years. The interests, hobbies and experiences are totally different. In this fast-paced era, the design logic of many buildings and spaces seems to have embarked on the road of juggling in order to win Yan's smile, consuming a lot of resources to build to play the purpose of commercial flow lever. Every industry strives to reach a high point and gather the groups in this field to form a community effect, which costs a lot. In the rapid development of their own business system, urban life is also subdivided into more groups, with less and less common points and commonalities. The multiple cultural superposition also creates different cultural barriers. In the face of multiple choices of life, people in the same era seem to live in different worlds.
Knowledge and information can be quickly obtained on the Internet. The daily necessities and other product resources are almost first-class design and quality. Comprehensive service also makes life more and more convenient. It seems that there is no need to explore anything more. The reality communication becomes less and less, and the psychological distance between people is also more and more far, which has become a common phenomenon in urban life. When the material and spirit are in the right situation, the design field of equivalent buildings and spaces is the most backward, especially the urban public buildings, functional facilities and community-based public spaces, which can not reach the degree of balance with the times and meticulous. If we first remove aesthetics from the design, put architecture and space design in a larger social pattern, combine the social status to solve some problems and change some rigid cognition, make up for the more necessary defects of the social level, it is the right design thinking of urban architecture and living space. Aesthetics is the minimum requirement for design, which should be considered at the end of design.
In 2018, it was commissioned to renovate the design of a public toilet located in Qujiang, Xi'an, which is 120 meters away from the city of Datang. Xi'an is one of the four ancient capitals in the world and the starting point of the silk road. It receives an average of 13 million tourists from various countries every year. The surrounding environment of the public toilet base is in the form of traditional antique buildings. On the east side, it is close to the commercial building and pedestrian street square, on the north side, it faces the residential community, and it is close to the ancient ruins of the Tang city wall. When I first came to the site for investigation, I saw that the original design intention of the public toilet was to continue the element symbols of ancient Chinese architecture to reflect, to achieve the goal of harmony with the surrounding nature, but the problem of proportion has been difficult to coordinate, the height of the original building has exceeded the height of the city wall, which is more abrupt from the visual point of view, and the transformation design rule is that the existing foundation cannot be demolished, as well as that the existing foundation cannot be demolished Through the method of partial demolition to solve the problem of proportion and coordination, and to reduce the difficulty of reconstruction, the structure should be simple, the construction period should be short, and the continuity and accessibility of the sidewalk should be maintained. For the requirements of the current situation and rules, we finally give an overall design solution, which is also a design solution with subversive intention.
